My Pumpkin Book Character “Fly Guy”
It’s that time of year again that we all are excited about Halloween, and during this time we all try to find awesome activities to keep the kids busy and creative. My son’s school library decided to create an awesome extravaganza event where all the kids in various grade levels were to create their very own book character. Now, you can imagine how thrilled he was to hear that. We decided to brainstorm and come up with a few ideas as to what book character he would create.
He started with Bad Kitty, moved to Spider-man and then Fly Guy. Now, it was time to gather all the supplies we had at home with the exception of the pumpkin of course.
Materials to create FLY GUY:
Pumpkin (small)
Empty Ribbon Roles (2)
Carrot (small)
Construction paper (white and black)
Tape
Paint (red, yellow, blue, black, white, orange)
Paint brushes
Black Marker
We cleaned the pumpkin to be free of dust. Next, it was time to make a brown/orange color tone for Fly Guy’s skin. We started by mixing black, yellow, blue and red paint together to make a brown tone. Next, William painted his pumpkin and then it was set outside to dry. In the meantime, we started on the wings. He used white construction paper and drew a basic wing leaf pattern. Next, he traced over it with a black marker, and then it was time to cut it out.
After the pumpkin had dried, it was time to finish the rest of his skin and mouth (set to dry or you can also use a blow dryer which helps in our case LOL). We used black construction paper to make the arms and legs of FLY GUY. Next, we gathered two empty ribbon rolls in which we painted white ,and then we finally added some eyelashes.
Finally it was time to add the eyes, nose, wings, arms, and legs to the pumpkin. William was so happy and excited about creating his book character, FLY GUY.
I hope you all enjoyed his book character. If you have created one as well, feel free to let us know what book character you have selected. Until next time, and you are always welcome to follow me on instagram @fabfamfour
